More Effective Control of Symptoms — With Few Side Effects

Lexapro has been proven to be an effective treatment for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)An overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often accompanied by physical symptoms such as tension, sweating, or increased pulse rate. Anxiety symptoms are commonly associated with depression.. In clinical studies, Lexapro significantly reduced the symptom of anxiety for many patients beginning at week 1 or 2 (full antianxiety effect may take 4 to 6 weeks).4

One head-to-head trial compared Lexapro 10-20 mg/day with Paxil 20-50 mg/day. In this trial, Lexapro was at least as effective but was better tolerated. More patients discontinued treatment with Paxil as a result of adverse events.5
